Cuban pepper like
Origin:
Russia
Description:
Mid-season variety with indeterminate growth and regular foliage, medium to large red fruits
Good variety, with a slight black tomato flavor. One of our best tomatoes for preserving!
Can be eaten raw, but it is much better cooked or dried/preserved
Low-yielding plant, we recommend planting a few plants to have enough for sauces or dried tomatoes.
WARNING:Its peduncle attachment is fragile, do not squeeze the fruits to check if they are ripe, you risk dropping fruits.
Like all elongated tomatoes, it is sensitive to blossom end rot (black bottom)
Taste rating out of 10: 7/10 raw - 9/10 cooked
This variety is one of our favorite preserving tomatoes, which is why you will find it in the "Best variety of tomatoes"
Cultivation tips:
Although it is an excellent tomato, its fragility leads us to advise you not to grow only this variety (never put all your eggs in one basket).
The Cuban pepper like tomato is a variety that is a good candidate for grafting. Feel free to read our article on tomato grafting.
We grow this variety outdoors, but if you have the opportunity, prefer to grow it in a greenhouse.
