Origins of the different foliage
Being part of the nightshade family, it is not surprising to see the appearance ofpotato leaf tomatoes, it is a common trait with its distant cousin the potato. As for the other types of foliage, they come fromspontaneous mutationsobtained by chance, which have been detected by growers or enthusiasts who haveisolated and reproducedthese traits.
The different types of foliage
Regular leaf tomato
This is the original foliage of tomatoes. However, there are several types ofregular foliage
- Regular foliage (almantinskiy trikolore)
- Serrated foliage (oxheart pineapple)
- Lobed foliage (little sparrow)
- Fluffy foliage (blush)

Rugosa leaf tomato
Therugosa foliageis generally associated with dwarf varieties (or dwarf). The leaves are thick and wrinkled, almost resembling cabbage leaves.
Our rugosa varieties:

Wooly leaf tomato (or wooly)
Rare mutation that causes an overdevelopment of hairs on the leaves and stem, giving tomato leaves awoolly appearance.

Potato leaf tomato
Thepotato foliageseems to be an archaic trait inherited from its distant cousin, the potato. Its leaves consist of a few large lobes cut in a very random manner. The leaves can vary greatly from one leaf to another, even on the same plant. There are a multitude of potato leaf tomato varieties.Karen Olivier, the initiator of the project "True north Tomatoes" has even made it a specialty and created only potato leaf varieties.
Our potato leaf varieties:

Carrot leaf tomato
Very airy and serrated foliage that gives an impression ofcarrot foliage. This type of foliage is relatively rare.

Variegated leaf tomato
Thevariegated leaves, or variegation (variegated), can affect all types of foliage. Varieties with regular variegated foliage, potato-leaf variegated foliage, and even rugosa variegated foliage can be found.
Our variegated varieties:

Cabbage leaf tomato
Thecabbage foliageis very rare, known only on a single variety, the tomato Curly Kaley. This dwarf variety has unique, very thick, swollen foliage with a very compact growth habit that gives it a cabbage-like appearance.

Pompon leaf tomato
A mutation that appeared spontaneously in a plant producer. The leaves curled in on themselves create this funny pompon effect.

Chartreuse foliage
Thechartreuse foliageis quite rare. It is a type of regular foliage with a very light color. A kind of "lemon green" that could suggest a nitrogen deficiency.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have images of this type of foliage... for now...

Mouse ear foliage
Themouse ear foliageis extremely rare. To our knowledge, we only know of the varietyMaushorthat has such foliage.
